Philosophy of Education for making an Admission.
When we admit our children in schools what is the criteria that we reflect on while making these choices.
How
do we consider which is the best school for our children? Education is such a
holistic process that it contains diverse paths to it. There is academics there
is brand of schools as an institution, human values a futuristic vision and many
other criteria.
Every
criteria has one against the other and can carry more weightage than each
other. The Philosophical perspective and vision is also important to consider
while taking admission.
What
is this perspective? It talks more of values that the children internalise the
sense of responsibility and leadership they grow up with the integrity and ethics
also play and important role v/s academic marks.
So
there are schools which aim at getting the highest academically whereas there
are school which promote a holistic and value base education system.
The
choice always remains a dilemma because parents constantly dabble they feel
that academic rigour and excellence like an IIT would be the best for their
children. Whereas at times they dabble that a gurukul kind of school where education is based on human values and growth
of the individual is based on.
If
you were to make this choice for yourself where would you pitch yourself?
Both
have their advantages and disadvantage and I am not saying what is better than
the other. I too get pulled between these two extremes and find it difficult to
make a choice.
