Joy and Sorrows of what we leave Behind and what we look Forward to.
It is New Year and most people want to celebrate it as the common rituals and customs go.
However, if we reflect on what has been the last year
it has been filled with sorrow, losses, struggles, emotional challenges, and
confusion around what is really happening.
So instead of the ritualistic New Year celebration can we
have a different mode this time in reflecting on and meditating on how do we
become ready and stronger to deal with these losses.
Each time you are ready yourself but then you discover
that you have lost a dear person close to you or something has happened as a sudden occurrence.
The loss may be emotional, physical, or social.
Somewhere for me, this New Year evokes more sadness, challenges, and diffidence
around my ability to keep fighting and be rooted in whatever cause I have stood
up for.
There is little excitement around the celebration and
more empathy around the losses. If I recall lost three very dear friends, two
close relatives, and many more at the physical level.
The distance that the corona has generated has created a
huge loss in interaction, communication, and expression on a one-to-one basis.
The online medium has helped little for me to reach out
to people to touch people or be there when really needed.
We have become selfish human beings where each one is
utterly scared of what may lie ahead and all the dance and music around me has disappeared.
The context to that actually no art programs, no dance
programs, and no music program which is a huge gap in my own wellbeing.
Watching everything online does not create that kind of
satisfaction meaning or joy that actually a real experience would.
People have lost tons of money, business, and more in
these two years. So my only prayer or wish for the coming year would be can I
be strong enough to fight whatever situation comes up.
At times being the fighter creates the tiredness in me.
Hence I struggle between being soft to myself, pampering myself, and being able
to touch myself a little more.
Do we welcome the New Year with partying and a lot of
excitement or do we still withdraw and reflect on what is left behind?
